Product Description
Optimum Nutrition ON chocolate100-percent Egg Protein is a dietary supplement with 30 Servings. Containing 22 grams of protein per serving and only 3 grams of carbohydrates. This supplement is low fat and sugar-free, contains aminogen, and is loaded with all 8 essential amino acids. Doesn't contain lactose or aspartame.
Nutritionist commonly refer to eggs as the Gold Standard for protein quality. Eggs contain all of the eight essential amino acids (the type that your body cannot make from other substances) and very high levels of total amino acids; especially important sulfur-containing aminos. Eggs are also readily digested and absorbed. As a lactose-free protein source, eggs are often more tolerable to people who have trouble with dairy foods. For these and other reasons, eggs have been a staple of bodybuilders' diets since the beginning of the sport.
The biggest problems with using whole eggs for a major source of dietary protein are the accompanying undesirables (cholesterol and saturated fat) and the inconvenience of trying to store and prepare them when out-and-about. Thanks to advances in egg processing, both of these limitations can be easily overcome. Using specialized equipment and sophisticated processing techniques, the cholesterol-laden egg yolk can be separated from the virtually fat and cholesterol-free egg white to yield a product that is nearly all protein. The liquid egg white protein is then spray-dried with an Instantizing agent to improve mixability and eliminate the need for refrigeration.
The result is a protein powerhouse; ONS 100-percent Egg Protein. A single serving of ON's 100-percent Egg Protein provides the protein equivalent of seven egg whites (22 grams) and takes under 30 seconds to prepare. ON's 100-percent Egg Protein contains only 100 calories, 2-3 grams total carbohydrates, and no sugar. Artificially flavored. Serving scoop included. Notice: Use this product as a food supplement only. Do not use for weight reduction.

Unfortunately, it got to the point that I just couldn't take the horrible taste anymore. I decided to try Optimum Nutrition's egg white protein because I had read great reviews for Optimum Nutrition's protein shakes online. I've got to say that they are correct--this shake tastes just like chocolate milk!PROS -The shake really does taste great. I used to choke down protein shakes--no more :) -Excellent price. You get a good serving of protein (23 or 27 g per scoop) and there's something like 40 scoops in the container. -Again the taste--just great. CONS -The ad claims that it is instantized (you can mix it with a spoon). Unfortunately, it takes a good minute or two of heavy duty mixing to get that effect. At first it clumps up, and you have to go at it to unclump it. Even then, there are often little pieces left. The good... I just mix it with some skim milk (I have to use the lactaid version), grab a high fiber muffin, and off I go.For me, this protein also solves - how shall I put this delicately - the typical digestion issues many people have when switching to a higher protein diet. I have those issues in spades, and while I suspect everybody's body chemistry is a little different (so one has to keep experimenting with different products), I suspect anyone having the same issues as me might do well to give this product a try. It appears expensive when comparing its cost pound-for-pound directly with some whey protein products, but then it turns out that one small scoop gives you 24 grams of protein, so a little goes a long way. When mixed with 12 ounces... Put your powder in the bowl, glass, etc. Pour just enough liquid to mix with a spoon. You should really have to work that spoon to get a very thick paste. Any lumps will disappear (from aeration, I would imagine). After that, you can pour in as much liquid as you need and it will be very smooth. It literally takes seconds to do. Hope it helps. |
