If there is a period of time that can make or break a physique, it's the post-workout window. In fact, the 60 minutes immediately following a workout carry such an overwhelming importance that many trainers believe if you're not consuming sufficient nutrients following a workout, your training could be causing more harm than good. After Max employs a 1:1 ratio of protein to carbs, along with creatine, glutamine peptides, and digestive enzymes to create a comprehensive post-workout recovery formula. No more "guess-timating" on whether you're getting the nutrients your body needs. Just mix up a serving of After Max and you can rest assured your post-workout needs are satisfied.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good, April 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
Summary:
Overall, its a good product. Its tastes OK (nothing to write home about), is competitive with other choices, and comes from a trusted manufacturer. Its also a great price from this seller (AllStarHealth.com). Research what you want and make a call for yourself.

The good:
- Great combo of supplements. I'm lazy when it comes to certain things. I don't want to be bothered with buying 9 different supplements to achieve a certain result. Its great that this has a little bit of everything I need/want. I also didn't want to have to worry about buying and preparing food for recovery. I drink this to make up for my laziness.
- Mixes well. I just shook it in a regular bottle and it was fine.
- One one hand, it tastes better than I thought...

The bad:
- On the other hand, I'd still rather chug it than just drink it normally. The ready-to-drink stuff like what Muscle Milk offers tastes better, but you pay premium for it. The way I see it,... Read more

This review is from: Optimum Nutrition After Max Post-Workout Maximum Recovery, Vanilla Ice Cream, 4.27 Pound (Health and Beauty)
I picked this up to compliment my Power 90 routine (and soon my P90X routine). I've only been using it for a few days now, but it seems to be helping with muscle soreness. I'm pushing myself MUCH harder now and not really feeling any pain the next day.

The powder mixes extremely well in water and results in a pretty smooth drink without any clumping. It was cheap, it's from a reputable supplier, it had what I wanted (Whey Protein, BCAA's, L-Glutamine and Creatine) and it seems to be working well.

I have 2 gripes with this stuff though. 1) The Vanilla Ice Cream flavor finishes weird. Maybe it's the splenda or maybe I'm adding too much water, I don't know. Going down it tastes fine, but the aftertaste and the lingering taste the rest of the day is not enjoyable. I've been adding a teaspoon of cocoa powder and reducing the amount of water and that's helped a lot, but I'm still playing with the mixture. 2) 3 scoops is 320 calories, which for my current diet is a lot... 5.0 out of 5 stars Best Shake On The Market, January 11, 2007
By
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
A friend of mine recommended this to me a couple of years ago, and i've been using it ever since. It's not gritty and it doesn't have that "cardboard glue" taste i've found in other nutrition shakes. With the Aminogen, Creatine and L-Glutamine already added, i was able to stop buying other supplements which saved quite a bit of money. This product is enjoyable to drink and i've seen great gains in my performance and strength since i've started using it. I highly recommend this product.

I have found that the best mix is blending 3 scoups of powder, 12oz of water and 3 ice cubes together, it gives it more of a "shake" feel and body.
